Hady B 12 August at 00:46Joseph,what an irresponsible disoleunal!trying to make a world record on a tiny road,what got in his head?why the rush?the rush, the speed, the danger (of his life and others')this instance that separates life from death,safety from danger,the threat!walking a tightrope,walking on the edge of disaster,this irrational drive that drives Joseph and his like to go faster, to embrace danger,it's the same drive that drives mankind to the edge of sanity! to the brink of insanity!this split second exists at every corner in Joseph's mind,and nothing else matters,nothing could occur to him in the heat of that moment,it's like being at the edge of an orgasm!at that moment, Joseph feels most alive,for him, no future and no past could exist,only the moment,this very instant!the sweat, the drive, the rush,death waiting at every curb, behind every car,and at this moment, Joseph could die very happy.He would even be happier if he could live to tell about it,after all, this adventure became the highlight of his day,these 12 minutes, for him, are worth a lot more than you think!but poor J,if only he thought twice,if only he thought of the others,whose lives he is not allowed to affect or harm!but you see, poor J is addicted to this rush,poor J thinks that accidents cannot happen to him,he thinks he's immune and special,what a powerful feeling he must have had,so powerful it killed all other thoughts before killing him and the innocent others the point is:man feels most alive at the brink of death.and this tells you why so many people are more than ready to grab a gun and go to war!because, at that instant, man can truly live the moment.at that instant, man can escape:escape from his past (memories),escape from his fears of the future,escape from his mind and the thoughts that bring him down.this is like sky diving,this is like every other extreme sport,this is like gambling in the casino,this is like playing with fire!this is the nature of man.no matter how disciplined a culture can be,the world is full of Josephs who want to feel the rush,who are looking for adventure, who want to escape and risk it all to feel alive. Otherwise, if speed doesn't kill them, boredom will.*******i am not defending J,i am not defending the irresponsible act of speeding and putting others at risk.i am only trying to see this from an existential point of view. from J's mind.
